Microblading Aftercare: Your First 14 Days
Your result is 50% the artist and 50% how you care for your brows in the first two weeks. Think of fresh microblading as a delicate wound that needs a shield. Here's exactly what to do — and what's completely normal — day by day.

Days 1–2: Protect and clean
Your brows look intense and dark right now — this is temporary. Your only job these first two days is to keep the area clean and gently manage any lymph fluid, without scrubbing.
- Lightly pat the area with the sterile swab and solution your artist gives you — absorb, don't rub
- Apply only the aftercare ointment provided, in a thin layer
- Keep the brows dry — no water directly on the area
Days 3–9: The dark, flaky phase (don't panic)
This is the hardest phase — psychologically. Around days 3–5 your brows look their darkest and most blocky. Then, days 6–9, they flake and look patchy and uneven, and the area gets itchy.
Itching means it is healing. The single most important rule: do not pick or scratch. If you pull a flake, you pull the pigment out with it.
- Let every flake fall off on its own
- No picking, scratching, or rubbing — however tempting
- Hands off: don't touch your brows at all
Days 8–14: The 'ghosting' phase and your 14-day shield
By week two your brows may look light or foggy — the 'ghosting' phase, where fresh skin forms over the pigment. Don't worry: the true color resurfaces over the following weeks. Internal healing is still happening, so keep protecting the area.
- No sweating for the first 7–10 days — sweat's salt pulls pigment out, so skip intense workouts
- Protect from the sun — direct sun is the #1 cause of fading; wear a wide-brimmed hat or UV 50+ once healed
- No saunas, steam rooms, or long steamy showers
The golden rules for your first two weeks
- Water is not your friend — no swimming, saunas, hot tubs, or long steamy showers
- Sweat is an enemy — skip intense workouts while healing
- Hands off — never touch, pick, scratch, or rub your brows
- No makeup or skincare on or around the brows — only the aftercare ointment provided
- Sleep on your back to avoid rubbing your face on the pillow
When you'll see your real brows
Follow this and your microblading heals evenly and lasts beautifully. The color settles to its true shade by around day 10–14 and keeps refining over the next few weeks. Your recommended touch-up at 6–8 weeks finalizes the result.
Microblading aftercare — quick answers
Can I shower after microblading?
Yes, but keep your brows out of the direct stream and avoid long, steamy showers for the first 7–10 days. Pat them dry — never soak or scrub the area.
When can I work out again?
Avoid sweating for the first 7–10 days, since sweat's salt can pull pigment out. Light activity that doesn't make you sweat is fine; ease back into intense workouts after that.
Why do my brows look too dark, and then too light?
Both are normal. They look darkest around days 3–5, flake and look patchy days 6–9, then 'ghost' (look light or foggy) around week two as new skin forms. The true color resurfaces over the following weeks.
Can I wear makeup on my brows while they heal?
No makeup or skincare on or around the brows for the first two weeks — only the aftercare ointment your artist provides. Foundation and moisturizer can wait.
When is my touch-up?
Your recommended touch-up is at 6–8 weeks, once your brows are fully healed. It perfects the color and density and completes your result.
